Just like my namesake Katie Scarlett O’Hara from Gone with the Wind, I’m passionate, headstrong and darn good at what I do. With over twenty years of experience in the dessert game, I’ve accumulated a vast knowledge of food pairing, a well-developed palate, and hundreds of tried-and-true recipes, many of which have been handed down for generations from dedicated bakers. I’m also one of the happiest and optimistic people you’ll ever meet and Cheerful Confections is my way of sharing my love of artisan desserts with you.
Taking Classic Flavors to the Next Level
Over the years, Cheerful Confections has been blessed with a chorus of ooh’s and ahh’s, and it’s that look of bliss when they take that first bite that is so rewarding. While we’re famous for our quirky flavor combinations, we’re just as loved for classic flavors, such as chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.
From Farm to Fork
We only work with a handful of respected online purveyors who provide us with items like chocolate, dried fruits, flours, grains and nuts. Everything else is from Las Vegas, including fruits and vegetables, fresh eggs and locally-produced dairy. We have established relationships with local farms, which allows farmers to reap the benefits of our dollars as well as know how their food will be treated, baked and enjoyed. When in season, fruits and vegetables are often delivered to our kitchen within hours of being harvested. Some farmers even grow specific produce for us.
Dedicated to Craftsmanship
There is no better way to impart flavor than to make everything from scratch. The following are examples of what we make by hand: buttercreams, drizzles, fillings, glazes, pastry creams, sauces and syrups. We even make our own yogurt, crème fraiche and mascarpone cheese.
All without charging exorbitant prices and while a few may say that our prices are high, the question becomes, as compared to what?
A Cake Is Not Just a Cake
A cake is just a cake, right? Grab a cake from the grocery store, cut and serve. How different can one cake be from another? Pfft. A lot!
Raise your hand if you like the taste of cake that has been chilling in the freezer for months (or even a year, in some cases). Anyone? At Cheerful Confections, our cakes are baked upon order. They’re soft and tender, made with finely crafted ingredients, and just the right amount of sweetness. Once baked, they’re frosted with buttercream that is lush, delicately flavored and thick enough to stand up to layers of fillings and goodies. All of which makes our cakes easy to cut, serve and enjoy.
And speaking of layers, unless stated otherwise in the description, our cakes are 4 lovely and thick layers and the cake as a whole average between 4 1/2" and 5” high.
